Voiding an invoice
Correcting a sent invoice without losing the paper trail.
Voiding is how you correct a sent invoice. Nothing is deleted.
The time entries and expenses go back to unbilled, so you can fix them and put them on a new invoice. Any payments recorded against the voided invoice become unapplied credit on the case rather than disappearing — the money arrived; only its destination was wrong. The archived PDF survives as a record of what the client actually received.
WHEN A VOID IS REFUSED
If the invoice is split between payers and one of them has paid their share in full, the void is blocked and the message names that payer. Their payment record would otherwise be silently detached from what they paid for. Remove or adjust that payment first.
Voiding cannot be undone. The way forward is always a new, corrected invoice.
